Lego Mania

The library had a Lego show/competition we looked forward to all summer. Aaron and Zeke carefully crafted their complex entries, and Nora and I went together for easy and simple. 

Aaron built a Japanese WWII plane, the Claude. He submitted it as a work in progress, because we didn't have and chose not to buy all the pieces he needed. See the Lego dude on the right wing working on the plane?

Zeke built boats. The front one is the King's boat, with all sorts of fancy stuff. The pirates, in back, are chasing the King because they want to steal his super awesome chair. Suffice it to say the King and the pirates are not friends. 

Nora loves building towers out of Duplos so I let her go to it while I built a base for it. I thought the flowers were a fun touch. After I put them on, she asked me 'Can I pick the flowers?' and proceeded to take them all off and put them back in a different order. Then I moved the tower out of her reach before she could take it all apart again!

There were a lot of entries and it was fun to see such a great response. Zeke was bummed that he didn't win, but truly he had tons of competition! Aaron came close: he tied with the 1 other adult entry, then lost in a tie-breaker. 

Fair Days Parade

We went to the Fair Days parade with Grandma and Grandpa. We sat between two groups of over-zealous candy collecting kids, whose behavior I found questionable. Thus, there was more than one meltdown from my kids, and I spent most of the parade making sure they were able to get some treats. But, candy issues aside, it wasn't too bad.

Back to School

Oh we've done it now man! We dropped off this awesome guy to first grade today - his first day of all-day school.

He was ready to go half an hour early, with  his new hot wheels backpack.

He loved it.

Work Party

It's been since Zeke was a newborn that I've had a work-sponsored party that invited families, but this year my office decided to do one at the last minute. It was at the home of one of my coworkers in Park City. One fun feature of her home is her husband works doing something with arcade games, so they had a mini arcade in their basement. The kids had a blast! 

Once we finally got everyone out of the basement and fed, the kids played outside. Zeke spent most of the night on the tramp

and Nora spent most of the night on the slide. 

Then she got on the tramp for a while, love what happens to her very fine hair!

The views were so pretty, and it was fun to have a casual gathering with the people at work, and to introduce each other to our families and kids. I hope it's not another 6 years before we get to do this again!

RDL Loertscher Reunion

We always look forward to the Loertscher reunion in the summer. We know we are going to have lots of fun with some great people we only get to see a few times a year.

We played water games. Grandma brought the water table for the 6-and-under crowd. They loved it. 

And the kids rode the train again and again and again. That is their very favorite part!

There was a fishing pond and all of the kids got to fish for a stuffed animal. Nora and Brielle got cute bunnies, and Zeke got an adorable little donkey.

I spent most of the time sitting in the shade finishing my quilt for baby Sage, so I could send it via Grandma and Grandpa delivery the next week. Grandma was finishing a Sage quilt too, and it was quite pleasant to sit and quilt and talk. 

Another highlight of the reunion was getting new family shirts. Zeke is super excited because he has outgrown his previous one (we got those the year he was born!)
