Windy Fly

The last flying day was super windy. The photo doesn't do it justice but the wings of the plane were very wobbly!

And seagulls - so many seagulls - were soaring on the wind currents.

Aaron flew once and counted it as a success. The kids entertained themselves with this old chair. They could sit on it, pull the lever, and go up. They weren't quite heavy enough to put the chair back down though, even stacked on top of each other.

Sunset Walk

One night a couple of weeks ago it was approaching bedtime and everyone was kind of crabby when I spotted some pink sunset clouds out of the corner of the window. I sent the kids to the door and grabbed my camera and we headed outside in our pajamas to watch the sunset.

We started in the front yard and moved around to the back to see if the view was different.

The kids ran around in the sunset for a bit.

Then we followed the vivid colors across the street.

And watched as it changed again.

It was a fun and beautiful way to end our evening.

4th of July Rocket Launch

The kids are loving rockets and for this launch they each had their own new rocket.

Zeke's is a cool green and launched okay but the parachute got stuck. So it sped to earth like a missile rather than floating down on a parachute. Fortunately it hit the soccer goal before it plowed into the ground so damage was minimal. Aaron repaired it and it's ready to try again next time.

Nora's is the pulsar pink crayon. It flew beautifully twice.

She loves her crayon rocket, and loves Grandpa for catching it for her.

Since Zeke's parachute guy didn't deploy in his rocket, we tried putting it in Nora's rocket. Success! And Zeke was ecstatic that he caught his paratrooper.

And Aaron got to fly his planes too (far away from the rockets of course). Thank goodness for all these clouds, they kept us from getting too hot!

Float Flying

We were scheduled to float fly in May but it was cancelled due to thunderstormy weather and rescheduled for June. We were bummed but so glad we waited because the weather was hot and perfect for wading and splashing.

Aaron flew three times and the plane did perfectly.

Zeke helped carry in the plane after the last flight.

Superhero Party

Super fun was had at the library's superhero party!

The kids tried on superhero costumes

played in the bounce house (and could have stayed all night if we hadn't insisted they get out and give someone else a turn....)

navigated lasers (validating Zeke's belief that he is sneaky)

saved the citizens

and navigated the mine field. For Zeke this was as much fun as the bounce house!
